Turning 50 in Style!

Wow Jenny you certainly turned 50 with a great amount of style and grace and a gorgeous birthday breakfast celebration shared with family and friends. You looked beautiful and your setting at House Higgo in Northcliff was just perfect to make your day a memorable one. I loved your theme of Lavender and Lace and when you asked me to do the cupcakes according to this theme these pale pink, light lavender and purple sugar paste roses were so pretty on these Vanilla and Lavender Cupcakes in their dainty lavender cupcake cases.

Not only were you blessed with gorgeous weather, amazing family and friends but we were treated to a delicious breakfast by the very gracious staff of House Higgo. I loved your colour scheme and the most beautiful flower arrangements that your talented mom made for you were perfect on the pretty lace table centres. You have always been such a caring and thoughtful friend and it was very clear what an amazing friend you are to all those who shared your birthday with you. It was a privilege for me to share in such a special celebration with you.

From the theme “A Walk on the Wild Side” for her daughter’s 21st birthday, it was quite a change to do “Summer Hats” cupcakes for Jenny’s Garden Themed 50th Birthday party. Jenny left the choice of colours and designs up to me which gave me free reign to choose a summery colourful palette of warm yellow, funky orange, tickled pink and zesty lime green. I fashioned these hats from sugar paste and using different flower cutters and embossing sheets I made this array of beautiful bright hats with their quirky ribbons and flower accessories. The cupcakes I baked were a variety of chocolate, red velvet and passionfruit with white chocolate in brightly coloured cupcake holders. These cute summer hat cupcakes were the ultimate fashion accessory to a brilliant 50th Birthday celebration!

Tracy’s 50th Birthday Cupcakes

A week after celebrating Lisa’s birthday with the vintage cupcakes at scrapbooking it was Tracy’s turn to celebrate her big milestone birthday as she turned 50. Of course Tracy doesn’t look anywhere near 50 as she has an amazing family and a unique set of friends and of course a crazy group of scrapbooking friends too who keep her really young! In fact this may be an excuse to celebrate her 50th for the next few years until she really looks 50! When looking for inspiration for Tracy’s 50th so many things came to mind as Tracy loves beautiful colours and patterns when scrapbooking and she is an extremely thoughtful and generous person. I chose 2 colours that I will always associate with her and those were a vibrant lime green and funky purple and made flowers using combinations of these colours. I was delighted to find another embossed flower cutter at Jodees and used this flower with a rolled rose for its centre.

True to our wacky Wednesday way of celebrating we had a great party with a delicious carrot cake made by Shaunagh, spicy heart sandwiches made by Lisa(TQO) and the usual array of gifts, blowing of candles and singing. Thanks Tracy for being such an awesome scrapbooking friend and for just being you. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate such a special birthday with you.

Tracy’s Bookclub 50th Birthday Cupcakes

This year is a big birthday celebration for Tracy from our Wednesday scrapbooking group and she has had fun celebrating with her family and friends. The week before the big day was her bookclub week and Shaunagh asked me to do cupcakes for the bookclub evening to celebrate Tracy’s 50th. I made pistachio and honey cupcakes in lime green and purple cupcake holders and then used the same colour scheme for the decorations. I combined bought flowers from Baking Bitz in Randburg with my own lime green roses on these cupcakes and added the pearls to complete them. Glad you all enjoyed the cupcakes girls and look out for Tracy’s big 50th birthday pictures from our Wednesday morning scrapbooking gang!

Travelling Cupcakes

Wendy asked me to do these cupcakes for her friend’s 50th birthday. She wanted me to include Tracy’s name and the caption ‘on the ‘move’ as well as some 50′s. Her friend Tracy has a passion for travelling and she was about to embark on another adventure after celebrating her 50th birthday. I made some cute sugar paste suitcases by joining two oval pieces of sugar paste together and adding straps and handles to each suitcase. I added an orange letter to each green suitcase and a flower to the 2 yellow suitcases leaving the yellow ones slightly open while they dried. I added a 50 to the cupcakes with the yellow suitcase in the matching lime green and a funky orange blossom with green centre to tie in with the green, yellow and orange colour scheme. Of course no suitcase is complete without a tag on it so the tags were a perfect way to include the ‘on the move’ caption. I made the 3 orange tags and added a yellow sugar paste ribbon and tiny green blossom to each one. The perfect way to photograph these cupcakes was on an old map I had and a few odd coins from my own travels.

Lime Green & Pink Cupcakes

Jeanine is a new cupcake client I met while scrapbooking at the Memory Shed http://www.memoryshed.blogspot.com/ towards the end of last year. Jeanine had seen cupcakes I had brought in for another order and I was so pleased when she called me and ordered these cupcakes for a friend of hers who was celebrating her 50th birthday this past weekend. The pink butterflies, lime green and pink flowers and pink roses were a perfect choice as the variety made for a perfectly pretty display. Lime Green & Pink Cupcakes

I loved that Jeanine went for a different flavoured cupcake and these Pistachio and Rosewater Cupcakes are delicious and I am sure the guests were surprised by these fragrantly flavoured cupcakes. Thanks Jeanine for your thank you message saying you couldn’t stop looking at the cupcakes that was an awesome compliment.
