This Softball Birthday Cake was a ‘homerun’ of a cake for Megan’s birthday earlier this year. It is always fun to have a challenge to create something new from chocolate modelling paste and this softball glove and ball were new for me. The closest I have got to anything softball has been to admire the photo accolade of Megan being chosen to play for Gauteng Softball while she was a school softball athlete. The chocolate modelling paste was easily formed into this glove … I had a real one to guide me for the shaping, stitching and lacing … my stitching tool came in handy and strips of black modelling chocolate were perfect to finish off the lacing detail.

This sport has remained a passion for Megan through her years of study at university and it was such a fun idea her mom had to use this as the theme for her celebration cake. It was a pleasure to create this cool cake for you Megan.
