From the theme “A Walk on the Wild Side” for her daughter’s 21st birthday, it was quite a change to do “Summer Hats” cupcakes for Jenny’s Garden Themed 50th Birthday party. Jenny left the choice of colours and designs up to me which gave me free reign to choose a summery colourful palette of warm yellow, funky orange, tickled pink and zesty lime green. I fashioned these hats from sugar paste and using different flower cutters and embossing sheets I made this array of beautiful bright hats with their quirky ribbons and flower accessories. The cupcakes I baked were a variety of chocolate, red velvet and passionfruit with white chocolate in brightly coloured cupcake holders. These cute summer hat cupcakes were the ultimate fashion accessory to a brilliant 50th Birthday celebration!

Peach & Blue Flower Birthday Cupcakes!
Hayley’s birthday is the last of the year for our Wacky Wednesday Scrapbooking group so it was great to have yet another excuse to celebrate last Wednesday just before the silly season begins! Hayley is great at combining unusual colours, patterns and items in her scrapbooking so I thought I would take 2 colours that I hadn’t used before and combine them into funky flowers for her birthday cupcakes. The peach is a lighter shade of a beautiful watermelon colouring I have and I used it to make these different sugar paste flowers. The sky blue flower centres and blue sugar beads are a perfect contrast to the warm peach flowers. I used different embossing techniques on the flowers as Hayley is also a texture guru when it comes to her wonderful artistic creations. Once again we celebrated another birthday with gorgeous gifts, party packs, cake and cupcakes. I couldn’t resist photographing Hayley’s cupcakes with the wildly colourful gift bag I chose for her birthday gift.
Lions Rugby Cupcakes for Juan’s 30th!
Juan chose a great day to turn 30, with his team the Golden Lions playing the Blue Bulls tonight at 7 in the ABSA Currie Cup. Thanks Cassie for your order of these Lions Rugby Cupcakes for the love of your life as he celebrates his birthday with family and friends and I hope these birthday cupcakes only add to all the rugby festivities you have planned for this special day!
Camping Themed Cupcakes for Luca
These Camping Themed Cupcakes were such fun to make for Luca’s birthday. Luca’s birthday theme sounded like so much fun when Alison described the party and it reminded me of the days when my own son was so much younger and received his first tent as one of his presents. We had to set the tent up for him in his room and he immediately took all his presents and food into the tent and proceeded to camp out in it for the entire night!
As Luca and his friends were going to be taught fire-making skills during his party, I made cupcakes for him with a small fire and flames on them. For the sticks I used chocolate-covered pretzels which I snapped into shorter pieces and leaned them against each other on the cupcake. The flames I made from red, orange and yellow sugar paste in different sizes and then placed them behind the sticks. Luca, I hope you and your friends had as much fun making your own fires as I did making your ‘Fire Cupcakes’!
Smiley Faces for my Smiley Face!
My beautiful daughter turned 14 today and I thought it would be cool to have cupcakes to take to school to celebrate with her friends. They had to be as fun and zany as she is and nothing could be more appropriate than a smiley face for her as she is gregarious, fun-loving and always has a smiley face for all her friends. I made these smiley faces using a chocolate mold and yellow sugar paste. I drew on the eyes and crazy smile with a black edible pen and added the faces to yummy chocolate and vanilla iced cupcakes.
Happy Birthday my darling and I love you more than words…or cupcakes could possibly express just because you a are gorgeous and delightful daughter!
Cupcakes for a Golfing Enthusiast!
These golf ball cupcakes first appeared on my blog over a year ago when Simeon celebrated his birthday and when we celebrated Father’s Day, so it was fun to be asked to do them again for Jeanine who was celebrating her godfather’s 80th birthday a few weeks ago. Her colour scheme was silver and blue so I made delicious cappuccino cupcakes with creamy coffee icing in silver cupcake holders and then added half of a giant Geldhof golf ball chocolate to each cupcake. The blue flags complete the look and I photographed them here with an elegant blue tie. They could only but taste decadently delicious with the combination of cappuccino and rich Geldhof chocolate.
