Cheshire Cat Cupcake

Cupcake with Sugarpaste Cheshire Cat

Say Cheese!

I had an order for Alice in Wonderland cupcakes for a little girl’s party on Saturday.  I was delighted as yet another chance to do mad hatter hats, pocket watches and teacups in different colours.  I thought I would challenge myself and try and make a sugarpaste cheshire cat.  After researching pictures and mulling over how to make this cute and rather naughty cat I eventually decided on the youtube option.  I don’t normally go on youtube as I don’t have the patience to wait for the video download.  However seeing as there was no download forthcoming from my own brain I decided to go the electronic route instead!

I put my icing mat and tools in front of my computer and as the delightful youtuber explained to my cheshire cat challenged brain I followed her instructions.  I was so delighted to have a rather good-looking cheshire cat by the time the video was finished – all of a couple of minutes.  I added on my own eyes and my son insisted he should have eyebrows too.  I have to say a huge thank you  to youtube and the artists who take the time to share their knowledge electronically.  I am now a fan and hopefully will be able to share some other creations with you all as I catch up on youtube in between episodes of So You Think You can Dance.

Mad Hatter Cupcakes

Spring Day Madness

What an awesome setting for a colourful spring Mad Hatters Breakfast.  Thanks to Sarita and Allison from Benvenuto for inviting me to display my cupcakes again.  I had fun once again chatting to other exhibitors and breakfast guests.   I photographed my cupcakes on one of Belinda’s brilliantly decorated tables.  I made Mad Hatters Cupcakes in bright orange, green and pink to match the theme of the morning.

Cupcakes for Mad Hatters Party

Nearly Too Cute to Eat!

I made these cupcakes for a Mad Hatters Tea Party Corporate sample.  I feel that I am getting the knack of working with sugarpaste and getting more character into each decoration for my cupcakes.  I loved how these cupcakes turned out with the pocket watch, drink me bottle, tea cup and mad hatters hat.

Queen of Cupcakes

Queen of Cupcakes

I am finally up and running with my new computer – brilliant birthday present from Eddie – so can get back to my blogging at last.  The Wednesday scrappers at the Memory Shed said that I was not allowed to make my own birthday cake  and the 2 Lisa’s got together and made me a beautiful Queen of Cupcakes cake.  I was so touched by their gesture and we had such fun celebrating Shaunagh’s birthday, with her Kaiserscraft cake, and mine together at scrapbooking on Wednesday.  Thanks girls for the beautiful presents and all the birthday wishes and birthday fun, I will treasure the memories forever.

Happy Birthday Shaunagh

Rottweiller Birthday Cake

KaisersCraft!

When it came to making a cake for Shaunagh I drew inspiration from the stories of her naughty puppy Kaiser. Kaiser has chewed his way through a number of unusual objects and I put these on the cake: 3 remotes, apples, persian carpet, books, photos.  He also managed to take a bit out of Shaunagh’s tortoise.  If I had included all the items Kaiser has made his way through though the cake might have collapsed!  So here’s to you Shaunagh and your delightfully naughty Kaiser.

Another Year Older

Chocolate Caramel Cupcakes

Thanks for all the Warm Wishes for my Birthday.

Yesterday was my turn to celebrate my birthday and once again it was a temperamental August day with freezing cold temperatures.  I made some chocolate cupcakes with a yummy caramel icing and caramel chocolate topping.  Once again I was totally spoilt with lovely goodies and warm wishes from all my friends.  This picture was taken with the cupcakes under 2 cute glass domes, a gift from Tracy, and the fire in the background.  Thanks to everyone for all the brilliant birthday wishes.
