FLAMIN’ GOOD CUPCAKES

Sizzling Hot Cupcakes

Ok we celebrated the cold with Winter Wonderland Cupcakes so I thought it was time to heat things up a little.  I made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for an order.  The theme was Fire so I made different size yellow, orange and red flames which I glittered for added effect.  Luckily my little leaf cutter came in handy here again, it is amazing how many themes I have decorated with this leaf cutter.

The result was gorgeous cupcakes that would have any party sizzling even on the coldest day this winter!

Cupcakes for Father’s Day

Father's Day Cupcakes

Yesterday was Father’s Day and we needed a sweet surprise for Ed to make his day special.  I iced the red velved cupcakes with a cream cheese and cream vanilla icing and decorated each one with a delicious Geldhof chocolate.  They were really rich and really yummy.  Thanks Ed for being a brilliant father to our 2 gorgeous children and for being such a willing taster of cupcakes too….

Play Your Cards Right!

Monte Carlo Cupcakes

Feeling Lucky!

I was asked to make Monte Carlo themed cupcakes recently for a display.  Quite a challenge but I ended up having so much fun making Monte Carlo inspired playing cards, dice and casino chips.  The colour scheme was black, red and white and the cupcakes were a hit.

HINT: I made playing cards in different sizes and then used little icing hearts to complete the cards.  They are easy to stick on with Tylose which is an edible glue.

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Brrrr...illiant!

These cupcakes are perfect for the weather we are having at the moment.  I know we don’t get snow and ice here in Joburg in winter but it certainly feels cold enough to celebrate with these Winter Wonderland cupcakes.   I moulded the little blue teddy and his bow-tie.  The snowflakes I punched out of icing and then covered with edible glitter to make them really sparkle on the cupcakes.  I used tiny little blue and silver stars I found at Jodees just to finish off the effect and they came out brrrr..illiantly!

Baby Shower Cupcakes
Hush Little Baby.

Julie asked me to do these cupcakes for a baby shower.  The theme was Little Mermaid and the colours pink of course for a little girl.  I used little pink sleeping babies and colourful shells and finished off sprinkling each cupcake with tiny pearls – all purchased at Baking Bitz (Rabie Road).  Delighted how cute they looked.

Life is a Masquerade!

Life is a Masquerade

Thanks again Julie for giving me a new challenge.  This time it was to make cupcakes for a Masked Ball Birthday Party.  I couldn’t source any ready-made decorations as was the case with the Mad-Hatter party so I tried my hand at making my own.  I was delighted with the result.

The staff at Baking Bits on Republic Road were also an inspiration, extremely helpful and ready to listen to my questions.  Thanks for having the perfect leaf cutter in stock – it was perfect for making the masks.  Thanks Ed for your idea to finish the mask off with the little black flower.

Hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks to Julie who put her trust in me to come up with something creative for her party.  Great minds must have been thinking alike as it was pure co-incidence that I used a purple and black colour scheme and so did Julie.
