Cupcakes for a First Birthday!

Car Cupcakes

Esther asked me to do Car Cupcakes for her little boy’s first birthday and I found these cute red and blue cars, the same as those in the CARS Movie, at Jodees.  The naughty and fun characters captured in these sugar paste cars were perfect for these cupcakes.  I iced the chocolate cupcakes with a creamy vanilla icing and then used little strips of liquorice for the road markings in front of and behind the cars.  Thanks for your double order of cupcakes Esther and I hope that your son’s birthday was loads of fun!

Pretty Daisy Cupcakes for Gaby’s Birthday!

Daisy CupcakesGaby, my daughter’s friend, celebrated her 14th birthday today and as she loves my cupcakes I thought we would surprise her with a visit and a gift of these colourful Daisy Cupcakes.  I made rich, moist chocolate cupcakes iced with a tinted lime green deliciously creamy icing.  I cut out pink, light and darker blue and green daisies and added contrasting sugar pearls for their centres and popped these onto the cupcakes and sprinkled sugar pearls around the daisies.  Pretty Daisy cupcakes for a pretty funky girl!             Hope you have an awesome birthday Gaby!

Olympic Rings Cupcakes

Olympic Cupcakes

With December fast approaching, it is the time for all the fun end of year functions.  Jackie asked me to do cupcakes for the end of year function for her running club and she wanted Olympic themed cupcakes.  The small Olympic rings are cut out of coloured sugar paste and then layered over each other to replicate the Olympic logo.  These cupcakes were really fun to do with the only tricky bit being trying to get the centre of all the rings cut out evenly.  I hope your club had a terrific party on Saturday and thanks again for your order Jackie.

Tickled Pink & Soft Green Cupcakes for Sue’s Birthday!

Tickled Pink & Soft Green Cupcakes

We love the fact Sue that you have chosen to spend your Wednesday mornings, while you are on your sabbatical from teaching, and join your mom and us at the Memory Shed to scrapbook.  We feel we know you so well through the gorgeous layouts your mom has done of your wedding photos and it is great that you are part of our fun and madness even if it is just for a short time.  We wanted to say thank you with a small belated birthday celebration for you.  I chose tickled pink and a soft green for the colours for the roses, flowers and butterflies on your cupcakes as you loves  vintage colours.  To match the colours I made Raspberry and White Chocolate cupcakes with a creamy vanilla icing and they turned out to be perfect along with all the other party goodies.  We know you are a dedicated and awesome teacher and know that you will eventually have to return to the more smelly crew at school but it is great that you have been able to unwind a little on a Wednesday and enjoy your passion for scrapbooking.

Legally Legal at last Brandon!

Underwater Cupcakes

Legally legal today Brandon!  Wishing you an amazing 18th birthday and hope you have loads of fun celebrating with your family and friends.  With you having been voted the ‘Social Networking’ King at school, I could have made you cellphone cupcakes, or in fact any cupcake to do with animals or nature but I opted for an Underwater Theme instead for your other passion in life.  May the beginning of your adult life be a new and awesome adventure!

Totally Bright Summer Flower Cupcakes!

Bright Flower Cupcakes

After a slow and somewhat cooler start to our Joburg summer, the days have turned hot and sunny and it was appropriate to do these fun Bright Flower Cupcakes for Janine’s birthday celebration.  After a brilliant cupcake year in 2011 it is great to be doing so many repeat birthday orders in 2012 and I was delighted when Janine asked me to do these cupcakes for her to take for her colleagues at work on Friday.  A woman after my own heart, Janine loves this range of bright colours so it was not difficult for me to come up with these embossed pretty pink, oh-so-there-orange, yummy yellow and lime green flowers.  To add even more character to some of the flowers I rolled out strips of 2 different colours, embossed them and then cut out the flowers resulting in funky striped flowers to add to the delicious vanilla and chocolate cupcakes I baked for Janine’s order.  Hope you had loads of fun Janine and thank you once again for your cupcake order.
