Every New Year’s Day Teigh gets double wishes, Happy New Year and Birthday Wishes. It was no different this year as he celebrated his 19th birthday on the 1st January. Among his many passions in life is his new bike and I was delighted when I found these cool sugar paste bikes at Jodees in December. I made chocolate cupcakes with a swirl of vanilla cream cheese icing and then popped the bikes standing in the icing. The beige and brown sugar beads were the last addition to resemble the stony terrain he loves to ride on. He had a great day celebrating with family and friends and the cupcakes were the final sweet touch to his 19th birthday celebration. Happy Birthday my wonderful Biker Boy and congratulations on all your brilliant achievements of 2012. I am sure 2013 is going to be an awesome and exciting year for you.

Cute Christmas Mice Cupcakes!
I love popping into Baking Bitz in Randburg as there are always new sugar paste decorations in stock. I don’t often buy ready made ones as I love creating my own and choosing my own colours, but these cute little stockinged mice were too adorable to resist. To match the Christmas theme for our year end scrapping day at the Memory Shed I baked cranberry, dark chocolate and orange cupcakes, topped them off with a creamy vanilla icing and then nestled the sugar paste mouse hiding in his stocking onto each cupcake and added a sprinkle of silver beads around each mouse. We had a brilliant morning sharing all our Christmas faire and beautiful gifts and it was the perfect way to end another great year of scrapbooking.
White Christmas Cupcakes
Last year Glyn ordered Christmas cupcakes for her office year end function and I did the traditional red, green and white colour scheme for the sugar paste decorations. With this year’s order Glyn chose white cupcakes in keeping with their theme of a White Christmas and she asked me to add a hint of colour. The sugar paste icicles are always so dainty and pretty on cupcakes so I made silver and green sparkly icicles and added them to delectable cranberry, raisins, currants, cinammon and nutmeg cupcakes. The aroma of these cupcakes baking in my kitchen meant Christmas had definitely arrived! Thanks again for your order Glyn and I hope everyone in your office enjoyed a bit of Christmas magic in these cupcakes ant that they all have a peaceful festive season.
Christmas Cranberry, White Chocolate & Pistachio Cupcakes
When it comes to cupcakes at Christmas, there is no tastier combination than cranberries, white chocolate and pistachio. I made these cupcakes with generous helpings of each of these yummy ingredients and then added a simple melted fudgey icing with a spirited sprinkling of cranberries and white chocolate. They were so quick and easy to make and simply sublime to taste!
Colourful Birthday Cupcakes for Kate!
It was a perfect occasion when Kate celebrated her 16th birthday recently with her friends to make these cupcakes for her. Her only request was that the flavours were chocolate and vanilla and that they were colourful. Of course getting colourful is what I love the best so I chose a zesty lime, perfect purple and wonderful watermelon for the sugarpaste daisies. I added contrasting sugar pearl centres to each daisy and then popped them onto the cupcakes iced in lime green and sunny yellow. I couldn’t resist the polka dot watermelon pink cupcake holders for these cupcakes and the effect of them completed was certainly fun and colourful. I hope you had a brilliant evening Kate with all your friends and I was delighted to play a small part in making your 16th birthday party a memorable one.
Thank You Cupcakes
Thank you Siobhan for asking me to do your special Thank You Cupcakes for the nursing staff of the Sandton Clinic ICU. I was touched to hear your family’s story of how these medical proffesionals have helped your son during his recovery. You, Matt and your family have had a really difficult last 10 months and it is amazing that you still take the time to remember all those who have helped your son on what has been a truly tough journey. You mentioned that you loved the pics of the Purple and Silver Christmas Cupcakes I made last year so I used the purple and silver and added a little green and yellow to make flowers and snowflakes for these cupcakes. I hope that these colourful cupcakes brought a smile to many faces on Monday morning and I am delighted that I could be a part of thanking such special people at this time of the year.
