FLAMIN’ GOOD CUPCAKES

Sizzling Hot Cupcakes

Ok we celebrated the cold with Winter Wonderland Cupcakes so I thought it was time to heat things up a little.  I made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for an order.  The theme was Fire so I made different size yellow, orange and red flames which I glittered for added effect.  Luckily my little leaf cutter came in handy here again, it is amazing how many themes I have decorated with this leaf cutter.

The result was gorgeous cupcakes that would have any party sizzling even on the coldest day this winter!

Cupcakes for Father’s Day

Father's Day Cupcakes

Yesterday was Father’s Day and we needed a sweet surprise for Ed to make his day special.  I iced the red velved cupcakes with a cream cheese and cream vanilla icing and decorated each one with a delicious Geldhof chocolate.  They were really rich and really yummy.  Thanks Ed for being a brilliant father to our 2 gorgeous children and for being such a willing taster of cupcakes too….

Red Velvet if You Please…..

Roll out the Red Carpet for these Cupcakes!

Red Velvet Cupcakes are not the easiest cupcakes to bake as you need to get an even balance between the chocolate and the red colour of the final baked product.  They also need to taste smooth and velvety.  My first attempt were awful as the recipes I researched all called for baking soda in them.  All I could taste was the bitter soda taste and they were dreadful.

My second attempt was way better and I swopped baking powder for baking soda and they came out chocolatey, velvety red.  Iced them with vanilla cream cheese icing and they look and taste delicious.

Play Your Cards Right!

Monte Carlo Cupcakes

Feeling Lucky!

I was asked to make Monte Carlo themed cupcakes recently for a display.  Quite a challenge but I ended up having so much fun making Monte Carlo inspired playing cards, dice and casino chips.  The colour scheme was black, red and white and the cupcakes were a hit.

HINT: I made playing cards in different sizes and then used little icing hearts to complete the cards.  They are easy to stick on with Tylose which is an edible glue.

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Brrrr...illiant!

These cupcakes are perfect for the weather we are having at the moment.  I know we don’t get snow and ice here in Joburg in winter but it certainly feels cold enough to celebrate with these Winter Wonderland cupcakes.   I moulded the little blue teddy and his bow-tie.  The snowflakes I punched out of icing and then covered with edible glitter to make them really sparkle on the cupcakes.  I used tiny little blue and silver stars I found at Jodees just to finish off the effect and they came out brrrr..illiantly!

Cupcakes ‘Fore’ Simeon

Cupcakes Fore Simeon

Fore….(excuse the pun) Simeon’s 6oth I wanted to do cupcakes related to one of his favourite loves….golf. I made cappucino cupcakes with coffee and caramel flavoured icing and decorated them with delicious Geldhof chocolate golf balls which Geldhof kindly halved for me.  Fore the rest of the words describing Simeon I printed them onto photo paper and cut them into flags which I glued onto lolly sticks to look like the flags on the greens.  Thanks Simeon for being all the thing you are to your family –  husband, father, son, friend, golfer, artist, sport fanatic and for being funny, trustworthy, loyal and so much more.  Hope you enjoyed your birthday celebration and your cupcakes as much as we did.
