Legally Legal at last Brandon!

Underwater Cupcakes

Legally legal today Brandon!  Wishing you an amazing 18th birthday and hope you have loads of fun celebrating with your family and friends.  With you having been voted the ‘Social Networking’ King at school, I could have made you cellphone cupcakes, or in fact any cupcake to do with animals or nature but I opted for an Underwater Theme instead for your other passion in life.  May the beginning of your adult life be a new and awesome adventure!

Totally Bright Summer Flower Cupcakes!

Bright Flower Cupcakes

After a slow and somewhat cooler start to our Joburg summer, the days have turned hot and sunny and it was appropriate to do these fun Bright Flower Cupcakes for Janine’s birthday celebration.  After a brilliant cupcake year in 2011 it is great to be doing so many repeat birthday orders in 2012 and I was delighted when Janine asked me to do these cupcakes for her to take for her colleagues at work on Friday.  A woman after my own heart, Janine loves this range of bright colours so it was not difficult for me to come up with these embossed pretty pink, oh-so-there-orange, yummy yellow and lime green flowers.  To add even more character to some of the flowers I rolled out strips of 2 different colours, embossed them and then cut out the flowers resulting in funky striped flowers to add to the delicious vanilla and chocolate cupcakes I baked for Janine’s order.  Hope you had loads of fun Janine and thank you once again for your cupcake order.

When Jeanine first ordered cupcakes for her 50th birthday celebration it was a pleasure to see her excitement and planning for her party and all the attention to detail she put into making it a perfect day for her guests.  It was once again a pleasure to do cupcakes for her friend, Claire, who celebrated her 50th birthday a few weeks ago.  With the planning and preparation of these two spunky ladies this celebration could only but be a fun-filled one for Claire’s guests.  Jeanine described Claire as colourful and extrovert so I made bright pink, yellow, orange and green flowers and butterflies for these cupcakes.  I used a variety of flower cutters and embossing sheets to make sure that each cupcake had a unique decoration and the result was a colourful array of Bright, Funky Flower Cupcakes.  I am delighted that I was able to meet you Claire before your birthday and I hope that your special day was perfect in every way.

Cupcakes for My Hero!

Banana & Chocolate Cupcakes

Eddie celebrated another year being younger yesterday and as he sees and tries out on a daily basis every flavour of cupcake that leaves the Cupcakes2Delite kitchen, I had to try out a different and new cupcake for his birthday.  Eddie loves bananas on pizzas, in sandwiches and on pancakes so it was perfect to try out this Banana & Chocolate Cupcake recipe for him.  I creamed the bananas but left the chocolate chunky in the cupcake mixture and the result was a delicious banana rich and gooey chocolate cupcake.

Happy Birthday to the love of my life and My Hero!  Here’s to many more birthdays with delicious new cupcakes!

Eye Candy for Halloween!

Halloween Cupcakes

Having ‘eye-balled’ these ghoulish packets of eyeball sweets as little halloween treats for my family and friends, I couldn’t resist adding them to my Halloween Cupcakes.  They were a really simple way of decorating these cupcakes but next year I will have to go for the full effect of making them look really scary and add the bloodshot veins around the eyeballs.  Luckily the cupcakes weren’t scary all the way through as I added orange essence, freshly grated ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg to make Orange, Ginger and Spice Cupcakes for the occasion as I was not adventurous enough to try out a pumpkin cupcake!  For an extra surprise, it was halloween after all, I added Cointreau to the creamy icing and the result was not so scary looking but delectably delicious Halloween cupcakes!

Hippie & Millionaire Cupcakes for Kayleigh!

Hippie & Millionaire Cupcakes

Hippie & Millionaire CupcakesOn Saturday Kayleigh had her 21st Birthday party and Shaunagh asked me to do Hippie and Millionaire themed cupcakes to go with Kayleigh’s chosen theme.  The peace sign cutter I sourced from Kadies in Fourways was perfect for cutting out sugar paste peace signs from purple sugar paste.  I added the yellow and purple daisy and baked these cupcakes in yellow cupcake holders to tie in the yellow and purple colour scheme.  Sunflowers in buckets were the centre piece for each table so I made sugar paste sunflowers for the cupcakes in the purple cupcake holders, these were simple to do with the sunflower cutter and embossed centre.  To tie in the Millionaire theme to the cupcakes Shaunagh suggested dollar signs which I made using an ‘s’ and a line through the centre with white sugar paste which I then larnied up with gold edible colouring.

I was delighted when I arrived to see the brilliantly decorated function room and the fun and detail that Shaunagh and Kayleigh had put into each and every table.  I had to add the photographs below of the clever table ‘numbering’ and the funky buckets with their bright sunflowers, dollar sign necklaces and peace sunglasses.  It was a privilege to have been able to do this order for such a delightful family and judging by the pictures it looks like there could not have been more fun had at Kayleigh’s funky 21st birthday celebration.
