Craig & Anthea’s Wedding Cake

Craig & Anthea's Wedding Cake

Thank you Craig and Anthea for putting all your trust in me to create your wedding cake and cupcakes. It was so cool to be able to take your 2 personalities, your characteristics & your wonderful spirit (excuse the pun here!) for life and translate them all into a unique cake for your celebration. I was also under pressure to get this order just perfect in order to live up to Anthea’s excitement of the design we came up with together. This cake was also a way to say a huge thank you to Craig for all the years he has waved his magic scissors and creative hands to make my hair feel & look wonderful. Yes he has had to put up with years of my fussy Leo ways but he manages it really well imparting his own gems of jokes and comments! There is never a dull moment in any visit to Cutz Hair Studio.

I had so much inspiration for the sugar replicas of this amazing couple as Anthea sent me photos of her wedding dress, Craig’s suit details and also Liyah’s pretty dress for their treny sangria and grey colour schemed winter wedding at The Bridge Wedding Venue. I loved the detail in Anthea’s dress from the flattering bodice & detailed diamante waist brooch to the soft folds of the white fabric layers overlaying each other.  Thank goodness for the amazing Zeelandia Paste I used to create these sugar folds. Anthea’s rose tattoo, I created with a miniature rose stamp and edible colour and Craig’s tattoo was hand painted on his neck. Anthea asked me to include the Tequila theme in the design of the cake and I was so excited when I sourced this antique looking miniature Tequila bottle. As a surprise for them both, I included a love note in the tiny bottle. The beautiful words on the note are there own words for each other I copied from their tattoos…. “I have looked at you in millions of ways and loved you in each.”

It was really special to be able to have this sweet Liyah figurine sitting demurely on the board of the cake. I haven’t met Liyah, but the photos of her showed a gorgeous young girl with soft long hair. All the figurines I made using Saracino Modelling Paste, and Face and Figurine molds from (Sweet Revolutions by Domy).

The cupcake toppers were an exciting mix of sangria and grey ruffled flowers, embossed hearts and lemon slices and wedges to continue the tequila theme. I added sugar crystals along with the lemon wedges to complete the spirited feel of these cupcakes! I loved every part of this cake creation and Anthea loved their cake so much she didn’t want to cut it! Here’s a huge thumbs up to an awesome and crazy couple, I raise my tequila glass to you and wish you only amazing adventures together and as a family.

Andrea’s thank you to me was so special:

“Lisa you truly made this cake even more beautiful than I could ever have imagined it would be! Your skills as well as your perfectionist nature just shone through on this beautiful creation! Thank you so much for your beautiful contribution to our magical day, our figurines are currently sitting in our lounge on a special little perch and everytime we walk past them, we cannot help but smile as it takes us back to our precious wedding day!”
