On Wednesday morning we celebrated our 2 October babies, Michelle and Hayley, turning another year good looking! Fun festivities as usual with yummy cakepops, delicious food, photos, balloons, presents and loads of laughter as always. Gail Freer of Popcakes made these delectable chocolate cakepops and I made sugar paste flowers to add to the cakepops. Fragile cherry blossoms with pink centres and tiny blossoms to create lanterns were perfect for Michelle before she heads off on her trip to Japan and colourful flowers in pastel yellow and lime green to show off Hayley’s love of colour.

Happy Birthday Michelle & Hayley!

I just love how much colour and fun these 2 friends bring into my life, from all the shared moments of bringing up our children and Trinityhouse School memories to the laughter on our crazy Wednesday mornings. Without friends like you life would definitely not be as much fun. Wishing you an awesome year ahead!

Cream & Burgundy Wedding

Cream & Burgundy Wedding Cake & Cupcakes

Cream & Burgundy Wedding Cake & Cupcakes

Karel and Amanda were married early in September in the tranquil and beautiful grounds of Glen Afric with their close family and friends and of course the gentle company of the Glen Afric wild life. It was a complete surprise for me that I was able watch as this wonderful couple arrived to their reception set out in the shaded gardens of Glen Afric. They were accompanied by a mother elephant and her 2 babies who then stood and fed quietly as the couple had photographs taken with their guests. What a peaceful way to begin a wedding celebration.

From the moment I met Karel and Amanda at our first ‘cake consultation’, I knew that taking part in their celebration would be perfect. It did help that they were both enticed by my cupcake testers with their pretty heart toppers and that they loved the idea of being represented in sugar on their wedding cake. They were a fun couple to reproduce in sugar, Karel strong and dapper in his wedding suit and cream cravat and Amanda petite in her beautiful white rouched lace wedding dress and gorgeous blonde curls. They sat very happily on their wedding cake iced to suit the natural theme of their wedding.

Wishing this special couple many years of holding each other’s hands, sharing gentle loving gestures and laughter as they start this exciting chapter in their lives.

The matching cupcakes I iced with a dreamy coffee buttercream swirl and added the sugar paste embossed hearts and rolled roses that Amanda chose in cream and burgundy. Tiny non pareils and dragees sprinkled into the folds of the buttercream completed the look of the cupcakes and  Champagne pearls added the final touch around the bottom of the cake. Dainty filigree cupcake holders were perfect for these cupcakes which I placed tiered below the cake on a natural log stand. Thank you Karel and Amanda for trusting me on your wedding day and for being such a delightful couple to create for.

Cars Cake for Davey!

Cars Birthday Cake

Cars Birthday Cake

Turning 3 for little Davey was so exciting for him and he chose as his party theme Cars. The cake of course had to fit the theme and reach his expectations of what he had in mind for his celebration. The racing track in the shape of a 3 was the perfect addition to his themed party. Lightning McQueen had his own sugar paste race track complete with Start and Finish Banners. I edged the track in bright green buttercream grass and added extra chocolate grass.  The cake needed a checkered pattern to complete the look and I cut small black and white squares to create this effect, finishing off with the chocolate bits along the edges of the cake. The perfect finish to this cake was seeing the delight in Davey’s face as he sent me the cutest little thank you video and having these brilliant photos of his party all planned and set out with so much love and thought. Happy 3rd Birthday Davey!

Dragonfly Kissed Flower Cupcakes

Dragonfly Kissed Flower Cupcakes

Pearls are mostly always an addition to my cupcakes and I pop them carefully in the swirls of buttercream. These shimmery two-toned pearls in pastel turquoise and a pinky lavender, however, were the inspiration for these cupcakes as Wendy loves all shades of turquoise. A perfect spring day greeted us as we arrived at the Victorian Tea Room in Northcliff where Wendy had invited us to a delicious high tea.

I used a canvas of white frilled flowers , lightly dusted them to match the pearls and gave them a centre of two-toned pearls and delightfully shiny turquoise dragees. The flowers immediately reminded me of the wings of a dragonfly hence their name, Dragonfly Kissed Flowers. Thank you Wendy for a wonderful time spent celebrating with you and for always being such a caring and thoughful friend!

Happy Birthday Tracy

Tracy’s colourful frilled flowers in her favourite colours on dreamy chocolate cupcakes welcomed her to The Memory Shed for her birthday in July…..sorry Tracy that I am only blogging these now! My cupcake creations would not be as bright and as beautiful if it wasn’t for friends like Tracy who love life, colour and think that no birthday is quite right without a Cupcakes2Delite surprise! Thanks for all the laughs, fun, shared memories and support every Wednesday Tracy.

Just for you Tracy, I took your favourite bright lime green and shades of purple and rolled them into 2-tone roses and made layered frilled flowers with dainty beaded centres. There can never be too much added colour or sweetness in a Wacky Wednesday celebration so I added lavender sugar pearls & purple and green chocolate bits to the display.

Plumber’s Butt Cake and Cupcakes

Plumber's Butt Cake

This cake was a total blast to make, so beware you are about to be bombarded with this gorgeous Plumber’s Butt from every angle! Dylan is a remarkable young man, who is not only going places but has gone places! He celebrated his 21st last Saturday with all his family and friends and of course with this themed cake and cupcakes. His proud mom, Debbie, ordered his cake with much excitement and planning and I couldn’t have been happier to be part of his celebration as Dylan has grown into an awesome young man. Wishing you just the best for your future Dylan, I would say it looks bright, but maybe not always given your profession!!!

Plumber's Butt Cake

Debbie created a denim themed party and venue for his 21st and she loved the idea of a Plumber’s Butt Cake and the matching Denim Pocket Cupcakes. No plumber can get by without the tools of the trade and the trendy white T-shirt and ‘plumber’s crack’ to boot. These I made moulding the sugar paste over a carefully carved cake and adding a belt with its stitching detail and moulded tools. Thank you to Linda’s Bake and Pack, Melville as that is where I finally found the mould for these really cool tools.

Plumber's Butt Cake

With such an interesting butt, the cake board had to have its own character hence the wood grain embossed sugar paste board and the tape measure, thanks Pat of CakesbyPat I scaled your idea and your tape measures to use as it was perfect for this cake!

Finally to the cupcakes I added tool-filled, 21 embossed denim pockets with stitching detail. Thanks again Debbie for such a different order!
